イエスのおもてなし/ The Hospitality of Jesus

イエスのホスピタリティ

ホスピタリティとは、人々を変えることではなく、変化が起こりうる空間を提供することです。ホスピタリティの逆説は、ホスピタリティが空虚さを生み出そうとすることであり、それは恐怖に満ちた空虚さではなく、見知らぬ人が迎え入れられ、自由に創造された自分自身を発見することができる友好的な空虚さなのです。—ヘンリ・ナウェン

One of the most valuable gifts we give others (and ourselves) is a “gentle welcome”.

Gentleness acknowledges our effort and stress, what it takes for us to live in the day to day, this side of heaven. To feel welcomed “as is” is truly a gift, yet sadly does not happen very much.

We humans tend to make war in our hearts towards others with small-minded, quick judgements, not fully understanding what it takes to walk in someone else’s shoes.

I see Jesus gently responding to people all throughout the Gospels, and He does this with being hospitable…welcoming…patient with them in their situation.

私たちが他者に（そして私たち自身に）与える最も価値ある贈り物のひとつは、「優しい歓迎」です。

優しさは、私たちの努力やストレス、天国のこちら側で日々を生きるために必要なことを受け止めてくれます。「ありのままの自分」が歓迎されていると感じることは、深く豊かな贈り物ですが、悲しいことにあまり与えられません。

私たち人間は、他人の立場に立って歩むということがどういうことなのかを十分に理解しないまま、心の中で他人に対して非寛容で、性急に批判し、争いを仕掛けます。

福音書の至るところで、イエスは人々に優しく対応し、もてなし、歓迎し、忍耐強く、彼らの置かれた状況に寄り添います。

Hear him say these words:

• “I believe in you and am for you” to the woman caught in adultery—John 8:1-11

• “I see your heart and want to stay at your house” to Zacchaeus—Luke 19:1-10

• “I hear your hunger for more” to Nicodemus—John 3:3

• “I let you go to wrestle with what you long for” to the rich young ruler—Mark 10:17-27

• “I see your inability to be nourished here” to the 5,000 in the desert —Matt 14:13-21

Emptiness…spiritual nothingness…hunger…resistance…ALLOWED.

Jesus:

• Is ok with people’s doubts.

• Does not force them to come to His side.

• Comes to them in their questioning.

• Sits with them as they process.

• Allows them to go their way to wrestle through inner tension.

• Gives them time to process.

• Creates a safe place.

• Honors their inward journey.

I think this IS the gospel and the good news of Jesus. That He is unhurried and gentle in His approach of winning hearts to Him.

空虚…霊的な無…飢え…抵抗…許されること。

イエスは

– 人々の迷いを受け入れられます。

– イエスの側に来ることを強要せず。

– 彼らの疑問の中にいます。

– その過程に寄り添います。

– 内なる緊張と格闘する道を歩むことを許します。

– 処理する時間を与えます。

– 安全な場所を作ります。

– 彼らの内なる旅を尊重します。

これこそが福音であり、イエスの福音だと思います。イエスは、ご自分のもとに心を勝ち取るためのアプローチにおいて、慌てず、穏やかです。
